Makeup Monday: Andy Warhol Pop!
Andy Warhol, a visionary born before his time, has come to the center of the fashion world one more time. 2012 is the 25th anniversary of the eccrentic Mr. Warhol, and his life and career are being celebrated through Nars’ newest product launch.
This is the first time that the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts has collaborated with a cosmetics line, making it a somewhat controversial team up. Warhol has been known to disagree with products that are mass marketed. Mr. Warhol said, “I’ve decided something: commercial things really do stink. As soon as it becomes commercial for a mass market it really stinks.” However, despite this influence from the artist himself, Nars has released a 29 piece line of pop art cosmetics.
All of these influences come from Andy Warhol’s love of pop art. The collection also spins Andy’s most famous quote for their tagline to pull consumers to try the new products. “Everybody is a superstar for at least 15 minutes” is the latest tagline for the Nars Andy Warhol Collection. As we all know that Warhol was the first person who coined the phrase, “15 minutes of fame”. So get out there are go buy some swanky pop colors to make you famous!
“In the future everyone will be famous for 15 minutes” — Andy Warhol

Makeup Monday: Pixi for Target
This past fall Pixi for Target hit the stores, and now the reviews are in for this makeup brand! A fantastic cute collection of excellent products for a cheap price–what is there to say no to? Look below for more reviews.
This liquid foundation is perfect for those of you who want full coverage without being caked on. If you have dry skin in the winter like I do then try a liquid foundation. Powder will just sit on top of your dry skin and do nothing for you, but this liquid foundation does all the right things—try it today! ($30)
The makeup magic stick! Not sure what else to categorize this under….but it does wonders. It helps highlight the perfect areas, and makes you feeling fresh at the end of the day. ($26)
This blush can compete with the big brands of makeup out there. Perfectly sheer coverage with a touch of pink, it helps you feel sunkissed or like a blushing beauty. ($16)
I know I did a post on face primers, but that was before I knew about this. A flawless coverage that doesn’t leave your makeup feeling heavy. The best part? It helps keep your pores clear even with a face of makeup on. ($29)
This lip balm is perfect to keep your smile looking fabulous. It comes a wide array of colors and goes on smooth. Try one color today depending on your mood, and you’ll fall in love with your smile. ($16)

Makeup Monday: Urban Decay Eyeliners
This week we are looking at eyeliners from Urban Decay. This brand has been becoming more and more popular, and we can see why! The eyeliners are waterproof, last 24/7, and come in easy-to-use great color sticks.
I have never used liquid liners before trying this. I was always afraid that I could not put the liquid liner on correctly, and would end up looking like a raccoon. However, these liquid liners were so easy to use, that I bought two! The purple looks great with green eyes, and the black is always the classic choice, but whatever color you choose, your eyes will be shining with love for this product!
The great thing about these eyeliners, if that they can be used to outline the eye and as an eye shadow as well. Two in one, who wouldn’t want that? The colors are great, especially the peachy-orange color. I have fair skin so it works best for my daily wear. What color do you think matches you the best?
Next, there are these eye pencils, they are the regular eyeliners, but there is nothing normal about these. They go on smooth and come in so many flattering colors, I wanted to try them all!
Finally, for something with a little more fun, try these glitter eyeliners. For a fun night out, or a special occasion, use any of these colors to get noticed and have fun. I love the gold and white for New Years Eve, hey it is never to early to start planning for next year, right?

Makeup Monday: The Best Face Primers
Makeup is such an important aspect to every girls life–it can make you feel confident sexy older and even younger if you wish! So in order to put the best face out there you have to start before the foundation. Below are the best Face Primers!
This luminizing face primer from Sally Hansen not only is a perfect face primer but also adds glow and highlight to your face. When used over the summer it can help eliminate shine.
This primer from Bare Essentials, is the perfect palette to put on foundation It dries fast so if you have to make a quick run to the office you can easily spray this product on. It has also been known as the best primer for those who has irritable skin.
This skin primer includes vitamin A so you will look as healthy as it is! It gives you that dewy glow if you have dry skin like me. Auto Pilot from Napoleon Perdis.
We all know I love Mac Cosmetics, and this primer is just as great as any other product. The nice thing about this primer is that it has SPF 50! Wow now that is what I am talking about for girls like me with extremely fair skin. Even if you are not fair skinned you should always put on SPF!
Lastly, there is this product from Arbonne! It helps prime and primp your face for all day! It helps fill in a face even if you have sun damage or freckles.

Rachel Jane
Makeup Monday: Face Highlighters
You can highlight your hair, you can highlight a page, but did you know that you can highlight your face? All three of these products will help define, add to, and illuminate your best features on your face.
As we all know I am a Benefit girl, and I truly believe in the magic of High Beam. This highlighter goes on everything, and I mean everything ! You can use it as a lip stain for some soft lipstick, or you can help use it as a highlighter. I prefer to use this on my cheekbones to help define those lines that are so important.
This is a highlighter and concealer from Mac this is used not only to brighten your face in the best places, but to also help cover any worry spots you may have.
Another product from Benefit, another highlighter! This one I would use in winter to help fake that my skin is not dry and that I do not live in Chicago. Girl Meets Pearl is a fantastic product that is used to not only highlight but moisturize the face.
Need some help with where exactly to put these products? Look below for the best spots to dab or roll on some highlighters.

Makeup Monday: The Best Drug Store Mascaras!
Ever heard of the trend: high low? Well this one is a perfect example for makeup. The high low concept is that you buy something that is high end and pair it with something that is low end. For example, you buy beautiful nice powder foundation from Chanel, and then decide to buy cheaper lower end mascara from your local drug store. I truly believe that a majority of the mascaras sold at drug stores work just as well as the high end brands…lets take a look at them now.
This mascara from Rimmel London, is all about the lash extension. For just around $8 you can have this prime product to make your eyes smolder.
This is yet again another product from Rimmel London. The brand excels in eyelash perfection, hence the name: Lash Accelerator! I have used this product before and have seen magic happen…it is much more an everyday wear.
L’Oreal Paris’ Volumnous mascara has been around the drug store for some time, and because of this it proves that it is a product that lasts. This mascara helps build volume–people will be wondering if you are wearing fake eyelashes.
Lastly, from Cover Girl there is the rounded brush mascara! This is perfect for shaping the eyelashes. It is like an eyelash curler and magic wand all in one! Go buy it today!

Rachel Jane

Feeling seductress? Choose a deeper tone to help complete that look. Want to be flirty and feministic? Try a lighter pink color to complete a cute look.
Finally, you want to always add blush to every day make up look in order to add highlighted cheekbones and transform into a blushing beauty. This powder blush from the collection can to be the finishing touch to your look and it comes in a oh-so-cute container. Its called cream soda peach!

Makeup Monday: Bedazzled Lips
Christian Dior, the brand, the clothes, the lips! Raf Simmons sent women down the runway with lips that were crystalized. However, some things on the runway may be radical, but some do make it to street fashion. Do you think this trend of bedazzled lips is too much for us to handle here on the streets, should it remain on the runway?
This beautifully handcrafted cocktail dress went down the runway, and if you were in the back seats you probably wouldn’t have noticed the small detail on this model’s face–bedazzled lips! This model is shown with a pout that is perfected with elegance and class, but do you these lips will stick with the public’s opinion?
Another beautiful dress, another shade of crystalized lips. These lips are more fuchsia to better contrast the mint green dress and necklace. This color of lips is also better for lighter shades of hair. Dark hair dark lipstick. Light hair lighter lipstick, unless you are on of those extremely lucky people that works well with both options!

Makeup Monday: Benefit Brows
Eyebrows–one of my favorite things! They define and shape your whole face, so it is a shame when you pass a person with bush-man eyebrows (The Princess Diaries reference right there).
Benefit Cosmetics has a multitude of awesome products; however, the one section that keeps me coming back every month is the Brow Bar! It will literally change your life! $20 a month is not bad, and its my little treat to myself in order to feel completely fabulous without breaking the bank.
They shape and wax your brows to perfection, and I have truly gotten to know my brow lady–she is fabulous. Although she left recently everyone there has been a ray of sunlight to my day because they are so good at what they do! Do not ever go get your brows waxed at a boring old nail salon again–please for the sake of beautiful high quality check out Benefit Brow Bar, found here in Chicago at Bloomingdales and Macy’s on Michigan Avenue.
Below are some products that can be helpful when putting on finishing touches to the brows!
Raising Eyebrows, the book brought to you by Cameron Tuttle and Benefit Cosmetics, is a little slice of heaven when it comes to grooming tips for your brows. If you don’t want to push out the $20 a month for personal service of waxing, then purchase this book! It gives you: techniques to get your brows into perfect shape, pros and cons of tweezing, threading, and waxing, learn how to maintain your perfect brows at home, and other helpful tips and hints from professional make-up artists at Benefit Cosmetics!
Brows a go-go is the perfect piece for any girl that is rushed for time when getting ready. Take this product with you everywhere because it literally has everything you need for a fresh new face after a long day! The kit contains: light and dark brow zings powder to fully define your beautiful brows, a tweezer for emergency plucking, eye bright powders to help highlight and brighten your eyes, and a step by step lesson for those of us that are not “make-up” savvy.
Finally, look at High Brow from Benefit. A brow lifting pencil that can work magic for you. People go nuts for this instant fix, and extremely flattering highlight. In order to apply just pencil under your brow following its natural arch! You can add even more arch to your brows by adding two dots above the arch and blend in with your finger!
Hope this was helpful and you won’t be looking like this anytime soon.

Rachel Jane
